Maybe you ought to visit Food Allergy Queen´s food blog. A Chinese woman in LA allergic to wheat, dairy, soy, rice, gluten, garlic, tomatoes, all citrus, lettuce (!), carrots, celery, squash, peaches, walnuts, hazelnuts, chicken...

when you cook asian food, if you are allergic to onion then use garlic or none at all to make stir fry. if you allergic to soy then go to your local healthfood market and get something that compare to soy ( i don't remember what it call). for indian food used PATAK'S curry paste which you can get from your local grocery market. you can still cook and taste the same even if you don't use the onion.
This is something that we serve at my restaurant
Chili rubbed Pork
2 T chili powder
1 T cumin
2 T brown sugar
(mix together)
You can use pork tenderloin or pork loin (if you use loins cut down into thick medallions.) Rub pork with mixture.
Best to grill the pork but you can sear them and then bake to finish.
You do not need to fully cook because this will dry the pork out. It need to be 145F but alittle pink is perfect.
You can serve with roasted herb potatoes.
Take 7 or 8 large Idaho potatoes cut into large dice. Toss raw potatoes with fresh rosemary, thyme and garlic and olive oil. roast in oven at 350F for 1 hour.
If you like seafood. You can try this
Thai Salmon with a pineapple salsa and coconut rice.
1 T dry mustard
2 T curry powder
1 T cumin
1 T paprika
mix together
coat salmon filets with rub. pan sear salmon.
Pineapple salsa
1 pineapple small diced
1 green pepper small diced
(if your son is not allergic to scallions add scallions small diced)
1 T curry powder
To add more heat small dice fresh jalapeno
Toss everything together
Coconut Rice
2 cups long-grain rice
1 T butter
1 (13- to 14-oz) can unsweetened coconut milk
1 cup water
Rinse rice in a sieve under cold running water 2 to 3 minutes, then drain well. (To get starch out)
Melt butter in a 2- to 3-quart saucepan over moderately high heat. Add rice and cook, stirring constantly, until it becomes opaque, about 3 minutes.
Stir in coconut milk, water and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, 20 minutes, then remove from heat and let stand, covered, 5 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork.
Alittle work for rice but it is very flavorful.
Put rice down first then salmon filet, top with pineapple salsa.
